Cookies and storage

Consent choices should follow real technology—not a decorative banner.

Language uses a one-year preference cookie; theme uses localStorage. Initial language detection uses browser language and, when enabled, approximate IP country.

We do not show an unnecessary consent banner today

The current code contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party cookies. If that changes, categories, consent, and withdrawal controls must exist before activation.

01

Cookies today

The mizo-locale and mizo-market cookies remember language and market.

The mizo-locale cookie stores fa, en, de or es for one year with path / and SameSite=Lax, and is sent to the server to render the selected language. After you choose a market, mizo-market stores the selected market identifier with the same path, SameSite setting and one-year lifetime.

This finding covers current code only. The final host, CDN, security layer, or future sign-in service may add technical storage and must be observed in the production environment.

02

Local storage

At most one non-sensitive preference remains on the device.

localStorage is not the same as a cookie and is not automatically sent with a network request. The website uses it only to keep the theme you picked.

  • mizo-theme — light or dark, only after you pick one
  • Removal — clear site data in browser settings
04

Pre-release audit

A code inventory is not enough for the final decision.

The production environment should be inspected with browser and network tools for headers, infrastructure cookies, third-party resources, and runtime storage.

The audit should record name, domain, purpose, duration, category, and owner for every item.

05

User controls

Users can currently remove local preferences through their browser.

Because no non-essential category is active, a consent preference centre is not shown.

If new technology is added, a permanent settings link and consent-version record should be available; a banner with only an accept button is not sufficient.

Open decisions

The cookie decision becomes final after observing the real environment.

No technology name or duration is guessed before production is inspected.

Document governance

Every new script and service triggers review.

Analytics, chat, embedded video, sign-in, a security CDN, or A/B testing should not enter production without a storage audit and an updated decision.
